Painting your home before Diwali — the four-week checklist
Painters are booked solid in the two weeks before Diwali. Start four weeks out, and here is what to decide, buy and schedule each week so the house is dry and bright on the day.

A 2 BHK interior takes a two-painter team four to six days including putty, primer and two coats. Add drying time, the odd rain day and the festival rush, and four weeks is the comfortable runway. Here is how to use them.
Week 1 — decide and quote
- Walk every room with a torch: note cracks, damp patches and peeling.
- Choose emulsion grade (economy, premium, washable) and the colours.
- Post the job on Hi-Partner with photos and the room count; compare three quotes on labour per sq ft.
Week 2 — fix the walls
Damp patches must be repaired before any paint: a waterproofing or plumbing job comes first, then at least four dry days. Confirm the painter's start date and who buys the putty and primer.
Week 3 — paint
Empty the rooms or push furniture to the centre and cover it. Putty and sanding take a day, primer a day, then two coats with a day between. Keep windows open; avoid painting on heavy-rain days.
Week 4 — cure and clean
Emulsion needs five to seven days to cure fully before you hang frames or scrub a mark. Use the last week for deep cleaning — book a cleaner on Hi-Partner for the floors and fans once the painters leave.
